Lukas Meyer (he/him) is a Tokyo-based spatial practitioner and visual documenter working at the intersection of theory, research, documentation, and design to explore and engage with the artificial conditions of existence shaped by the built environment.
Through the use of spatial, visual, and theoretical instruments, he seeks to dissect the built environment beyond its physical form, aiming to formulate both material and immaterial spatial concepts and proposals across various scales and media.
His current work primarily focuses on domesticity, the performance of labor, and the practices of maintenance and care. He is presently engaged in a research project investigating the potential of autonomous movements in the production and self-provision of housing. This project aims to empower residents by liberating them from predatory housing markets and to emancipate architectural practice and its practitioners from the pervasive politics and economics of space production.
He is currently studying Architecture, with a focus on Urban Cultures at the KU Leuven, Sint-Lucas Brussels in Belgium, as well as Behaviorology at the Tsukamoto Laboratory of Institute of Technology in Tokyo, Japan.
